Full Bio

Dylan Welsh is a professional freelance guitarist, arranger/composer, and music educator based in Seattle, WA. He has been performing actively since 2008, and does work for clients all over the world. With a resume stretching from Modern Country to Straight-Ahead Jazz, his skills as an improviser, reader, and listener allow him to operate in almost any stylistic idiom at will.

Welsh is well trained, highly experienced, and incredibly adaptable, and is currently available for hire as a guitarist (live/studio), private guitar instructor, or arranger/copyist.

Welsh grew up in Seattle, WA, and while he was studying viola in school, he began cutting his teeth in local rock cover bands with other teenagers at age thirteen. By the time he was sixteen, he had already performed at some of the Northwest’s largest festivals, participated in two tours of the Midwest, and was the youngest player to have ever been accepted into the Seattle Rock Orchestra (at the request of founder Scott Teske himself). Upon graduating high school, Welsh moved to Boston to study jazz and world music at the internationally renowned Berklee College of Music.

"Stepping into a band that covers over 100 songs by 90+ artists didn't seem to phase him in the least. He quickly adapted to our extremely fast-paced show and is providing us with spot-on guitar work. He's very easy to work with and has become a valuable part of our guitarist stable."

-Pete Martin, professional Seattle bassist (Hall & Oats, Huey Lewis & the News, Lyle Lovett & His Large Band)

"I was fortunate enough to have Dylan play for a session of mine whilst completing my studies at Berklee college of music. He was warm, encouraging and engaged. I don't hesitate to recommend Dylan as a player, he's respectful and supportive of the composer and the task set before them."

-Richard Gould, San Francisco-based Composer, Sound Designer & Voice Actor

"Rarely do I come across someone like Dylan, whose dedication to his craft is equally matched by his professionalism. His honesty, respect to committment and knowledge of the field place him high above many other musicians I've worked with. I absolutley recommend Dylan."
